The Practice

The Practice of Laying It Down

"Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference."

When you are in a crisis or an overwhelming flurry of life events, your brain tries to solve everything at once. This framework is designed to untangle the knot in your chest by separating your anxiety from your assignments.

1

Dump the Heavy Load

Begin by writing out exactly what is weighing on you. Don't edit your thoughts or try to sound brave. Write the raw reality—whether it's an unexpected bill, a relationship strain, or a health scare.

2

Identify Your Boundaries

Look at your situation and ask: "Where does my control end?" Sort the pieces into their true columns:

Mine

The small, practical actions you can physically execute today. This is your only true assignment.

My Influence

The things you can speak into, advise, or support—but where the final choice or outcome belongs to someone else. You must release the pressure to force a result.

Release / God's

The elements completely out of your hands. The timing of when things break, the decisions of large corporations, the past, and the unknown future. Worrying here changes nothing; it only drains you.

3

Take the Next Right Step

Once the chaos is sorted, look down. You do not have to fix the whole mountain today. Look at your "Mine" column and name just ONE action within your immediate power. Execute that one step, and leave the rest of the board exactly where it is.

The Mantra of the House

"Tonight, the problems belong to the earth, and your soul belongs to peace. Sleep. You will handle things piece by piece tomorrow."
